Local implant dentist in Louisville: what to look for

How to choose a local implant dentist, what we offer at Freedom, and what to expect at your free consultation with Dr. Regan Ackerman.

If you are searching for a local implant dentist, you probably want more than a name on a map. You want a doctor you can meet in person, clear pricing before you commit, and an office close enough that follow-up visits fit your life. At Freedom Dental Implants in Louisville, that is how we work every day. Dr. Regan Ackerman, DMD, sees you from the first consultation through treatment.

Quick answers

  • What does a local implant dentist do? Plans, places, and restores dental implants close to home so checkups and adjustments are easy.
  • Where is Freedom? 4906 Bardstown Road, Suite 104, Louisville, KY 40291.
  • Single tooth implant + crown: $2,500 listed fee (5% off with cash or check).
  • Is the consult free? Yes. It includes a 3D CBCT scan, a treatment plan, and a financing discussion.
  • Insurance: We are out of network; Lisa helps file paperwork so eligible benefits can reimburse you.

What a local implant dentist does

A local implant dentist replaces missing or failing teeth with implants and the crowns, bridges, or dentures that attach to them. Care covers the exam, 3D imaging, a written plan, placing the implants, and fitting your restoration. Because the office is nearby, you can return for adjustments and questions without a long trip.

Our practice focuses on implant care. We do not offer general cleanings or wisdom tooth removal. That focus lets Dr. Ackerman spend her time on the treatments patients come to us for. You can also review our mini dental implant FAQs if you want more detail on one-piece and mini options.

Why choosing a Louisville implant dentist matters

Implant care usually takes more than one visit. Healing takes time, and you may want a quick adjustment once you start eating with your new teeth. When your implant dentist is local, those visits fit a normal week.

Local also means you know who you are dealing with. Freedom is a family-run, locally owned, female-owned practice. Dr. Ackerman has practiced dentistry in Louisville since the early 2000s and has owned the practice since 2018. When you call, you reach our team, not a call center in another state. Learn more about her on our Meet Dr. Ackerman page.

What to look for in a local implant dentist

If you are comparing offices, these are the questions we would ask in your shoes.

Will the same doctor treat me from start to finish? Some offices hand patients from a consultant to a surgeon to a restorative dentist. With us, Dr. Ackerman meets you at your consultation and stays with you through treatment.

Do they use 3D imaging before treatment? A CBCT scan shows bone height, width, and nearby structures so we can plan implant size and position. Every free consultation at Freedom includes a 3D CBCT scan.

Is the pricing clear and written down? You should not have to guess. Our listed fees are $2,500 for a single tooth implant and crown, $7,500 per arch for a snap-in denture, and $16,500 per arch for fixed or detachable bridges. Your written plan explains any additional care. We offer a 5% discount for payment by check. Bring a comparable written plan from another office and we will match or improve it. Many patients tell us our plans come in 25% to 50% less than comparable local plans.

Do they offer one-piece implant options? We place one-piece implants in mini and conventional sizes. A one-piece design is a single unit rather than separate parts screwed together. Narrower mini implants can help patients who were told they do not have enough bone for larger two-piece implants.

Is their approach conservative? We preserve healthy teeth whenever we can. We do not extract teeth and place implants at the same visit. After extractions, we typically allow about three months of healing before implant placement. Once implants go into a healed site, a planned snap-in denture or temporary can often be loaded the same day when stability allows.

Implant treatments we offer

Single tooth implant and crown replaces one missing tooth without relying on the healthy teeth beside it. Listed fee: $2,500.

Snap-in dentures attach to implants for a more secure fit you can still remove to clean. Listed fee: $7,500 per arch. See our snap-in dentures page for the full overview.

Fixed or detachable bridges support a full arch of teeth on implants for patients who want a more permanent feel. Listed fee: $16,500 per arch.

Nitrous oxide is available if you want help relaxing during treatment, and our Bardstown Road office is wheelchair accessible.

Patients who visit us from nearby areas

Most of our patients live in Louisville. Many also drive from Southern Indiana communities such as New Albany and Jeffersonville, as well as Mount Washington, Shepherdsville, Elizabethtown, and Bowling Green. Clear pricing and seeing one doctor throughout treatment are common reasons people make the trip. More communities are listed on our areas we serve page.

Financing and insurance

Lisa helps explain Happen Bank, Cherry, and CareCredit applications. Financing is subject to the lender’s approval and terms. We offer a 5% discount for payment by check. We are out of network with all dental insurance plans, but Lisa can help file paperwork. Then, any eligible reimbursement is paid directly to you by the insurer.

How the free consultation works

Your first visit is free and comes with no pressure to decide that day. You meet Dr. Ackerman, review a 3D CBCT scan, receive a full treatment plan, and discuss financing. She evaluates your bone, bite, health history, and goals. We use digital imaging and intraoral scanning to plan your care and explain your options clearly.

Common questions about finding a local implant dentist

How do I know I found the right local implant dentist? Look for clear pricing, the same doctor from consult through treatment, 3D planning, and an office you can reach for follow-up care. Ask how they handle healing after extractions and what maintenance looks like after treatment.

Who is the implant dentist at Freedom? Dr. Regan Ackerman, DMD, is a Diplomate of the International Academy of Mini Dental Implants. She trained extensively with Dr. Todd Shatkin, graduated with honors from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry, and has placed approximately 10,000 implants.

Do you extract teeth and place implants the same day? No. After extractions, we typically allow about three months of healing before implant placement. After implants are placed in a healed site, a snap-in denture or temporary can often be attached the same day when that is part of your plan.

What are your office hours? Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. We are closed Friday through Sunday.
