Replacing a missing tooth shouldn’t feel like taking a months-long detour from your normal life. Between work, family, and everything else on your schedule, the thought of returning to the dentist for appointment after appointment can make you hesitate to begin treatment at all. But not all dental implants require a drawn-out process. Same-day dental implants offer eligible patients a more direct path toward replacing missing teeth and getting back to smiling, speaking, and enjoying everyday moments with confidence.
At Freedom Dental Implants, Dr. Ackerman uses innovative one-piece dental implants to make the journey from missing tooth to complete smile more convenient. She can place the implants and attach a replacement tooth in just one visit without compromising quality. This combination of speed, convenience, and dependable results is what makes same-day implants such an appealing option.
A dental implant is a long-term way to replace missing teeth, but that doesn’t mean you have to wait long to enjoy your new smile. With same-day dental implants, Dr. Ackerman can place your implants and attach a restoration during the same visit. Depending on your treatment plan, that restoration may be a snap-in denture or a temporary crown, bridge, or roundhouse.
One-piece implants help make this possible. The implant and abutment are built as a single piece, so you don’t need a separate abutment placed later or a second surgery to uncover the implant before attaching the teeth. Additionally, the one-piece implant threads are designed to grip the bone firmly during placement. This, along with our less traumatic placement technique, gives the implant strong initial stability. That stability is what allows Dr. Ackerman to attach a restoration the same day instead of waiting months before adding teeth.
For Dr. Ackerman, same-day treatment starts after the extraction sites have healed, not on the day the teeth are removed. If teeth need to be removed first, she typically extracts them, grafts the area when appropriate, and lets the bone heal for about three months. Once the area has healed, she places the implants into stronger, healed bone and attaches the restoration that same day. Based on her experience, giving the bone time to heal first provides a more dependable foundation for treatment.
Some offices combine extractions and implant placement into a single visit. Dr. Ackerman takes a different approach, especially when she believes a little more healing time will support a better result. She also doesn’t recommend removing teeth that can be kept. If a tooth is still healthy enough to stay, preserving it remains the priority.
For many Freedom patients, getting to the office already means putting some miles on the car. A large portion travel from Jeffersonville and New Albany in Southern Indiana, Elizabethtown and other communities along the I-65 corridor, or areas east of Louisville toward Lexington. When you are coming from out of town, every extra appointment matters.
One-piece implants make the process more convenient by reducing the number of visits compared with a traditional two-stage approach. For patients coming from outside Louisville, eliminating a second procedure day means one less trip to the office. On placement day, Dr. Ackerman can place the implants and attach a snap-in denture or temporary restoration, so you can head home with teeth right away.
Fewer appointments can also mean less time away from work and fewer rides to arrange, especially if someone is traveling with you.
When you do return to Freedom, you know who you will see. This small, family-run office is built around three familiar faces: Dr. Ackerman, her husband John, and Lisa. Dr. Ackerman handles your treatment herself, giving you continuity that can be especially reassuring if you have traveled for your dental care.
We never want pricing to feel like a mystery. Our current pricing includes:
While we’re known for our warm family atmosphere, patients also appreciate the reduced treatment costs at Freedom Dental Implants. In fact, our implant treatment plans are generally 25% to 50% less than those offered by other local offices.
Even with lower pricing, we understand that paying for treatment all at once may not be practical. If so, we offer financing through Happen Bank, Cherry, and CareCredit. Lisa helps patients review their financing options during their free consultation. At this visit, we’ll also help you understand the role that insurance might play. While our practice is out of network with all insurance plans, that doesn’t mean you’re left to sort out the paperwork yourself. Lisa completes and submits the insurance forms on your behalf. If your plan offers an out-of-network benefit, any reimbursement goes directly to you.
Same-day treatment begins with careful planning. Dr. Ackerman wants to know the condition of your teeth and bone before recommending a treatment plan. Here is what the process typically looks like at our office:
Your free consultation includes a CBCT scan, which gives Dr. Ackerman a detailed 3D view of your jawbone. You meet with Dr. Ackerman herself, rather than a treatment consultant, so she can examine your mouth, review your imaging, and determine whether same-day implants are a good option for you. If some teeth can be saved, she will recommend repairs rather than extraction.
Once Dr. Ackerman has mapped out your care, you will receive a full treatment plan. Lisa then reviews the cost with you and helps you explore available financing options.
If failing teeth need to come out, Dr. Ackerman removes them first and grafts the extraction sites when appropriate. She typically allows about three months for the area to heal before placing your implants. In her experience, placing implants into healed bone gives her a stronger, more dependable foundation to work with.
Once the bone is ready, Dr. Ackerman places your one-piece implants. Their immediate stability allows her to attach a snap-in denture or temporary restoration before you leave the office, rather than sending you home to wait months for teeth.
Once the lab finishes your custom restoration, we’ll replace your temporary restoration if you had one in place. You’ll also receive instructions on how to care for your new smile so that it lasts for many years.
If something with your implant treatment needs attention down the line, you’ll work with the same small team that cared for you from the beginning.
Replacing missing teeth doesn’t have to take over your schedule. With one-piece implants, same-day restorations, and a treatment plan that prioritizes healthy, healed bone, Dr. Ackerman can often make the process more efficient without rushing the parts that matter. You’ll also know your costs upfront and work with the same small team throughout your care.
If you are ready to find out whether same-day dental implants are right for you, schedule a free consultation at Freedom Dental Implants. Dr. Ackerman will talk with you about what’s bothering you, evaluate your smile, and help you choose a treatment plan that fits your needs.
Before your visit
Same-day dental implants work well for many patients who are missing one tooth, several teeth, or even a full arch. Bone loss doesn’t automatically rule you out. Because one-piece mini dental implants require less bone than many traditional implants, they may be an option for patients who were previously told they are not candidates for implant treatment.
The best way to know whether you’re eligible for same-day dental implants is to schedule a free consultation so Dr. Ackerman can perform an exam and take a 3D scan. At this initial visit, she’ll evaluate your bone, discuss your concerns, and review your health history to determine the best tooth replacement option for you.
Dr. Ackerman places one-piece dental implants into the jaw with a minimally invasive technique. It’s much gentler on the gums and bone than traditional two-piece implant surgery. Patients tend to recover more quickly and comfortably. In fact, many return to their normal routine within about 24 to 48 hours, though some tenderness or soreness is normal during the first few days.
Still, the bone needs time to heal and stabilize around the implant, which generally takes several weeks. Traditional two-piece implants usually require a longer, multi-stage process that can stretch over several months before the final teeth are attached. That longer timeline is one reason patients appreciate our simpler one-stage approach.
A healthy mouth makes a big difference in how well dental implants perform over time. One concern is peri-implantitis, an inflammatory condition caused by bacteria around an implant that can damage the surrounding gum and bone. With two-piece implants, bacteria can collect around the connection between the implant and abutment. A one-piece implant removes that connection point, eliminating one potential hiding place for bacteria.
Your daily habits matter, too. Brushing carefully, cleaning around your implants, and keeping up with professional follow-up visits help protect the gums and bone that support your new teeth.
