We preserve healthy teeth whenever possible
We do not recommend unnecessary extractions. Dr. Ackerman evaluates damaged teeth and explains whether removal is appropriate as part of your implant treatment plan. Our extraction services do not include wisdom teeth.
Plan the replacement before removing the tooth
Understanding the final restoration helps guide the extraction and any bone grafting. We explain the steps, expected healing, and temporary tooth options when appropriate before proceeding.
Healing comes before implant placement
When a tooth needs to be removed, we typically allow about three months of healing before placing an implant. We do not extract teeth and place implants at the same appointment. After implants are placed in a healed site, a snap-in denture or temporary restoration can be loaded immediately when planned and supported by adequate implant stability. Your final restoration follows its own treatment schedule.
After your extraction
Follow the written instructions we provide for cleaning, eating, medication, and follow-up. Contact our team about unexpected or worsening symptoms. If you have uncontrolled bleeding, rapidly increasing swelling, or difficulty breathing or swallowing, seek urgent medical care.
