Loose Dentures How Dental Implants Can Help

The short answer

Dr. Ackerman describes using mini implants to stabilize a loose denture or support a roundhouse bridge. A consultation helps her determine whether an existing denture can be used and which option fits your bone, goals, and budget.

A loose denture can make eating, talking, and even deciding whether to wear it frustrating. In this video, Dr. Regan Ackerman explains two options she uses to help patients who are tired of movement and adhesive.

So what can I do if your traditional denture is loose? That’s one of my favorite ways to help people, and I use the mini dental implants to do that. It’s just a smaller diameter, less invasive implant. So if you have a loose denture, you’ve been struggling with it, you’re using lots of glue, we can do a snap-in denture. And I’m not trying to simplify it, but it really can be an easy process.

I will numb you up, local anesthetic. I don’t have to put you to sleep. You can drive yourself to the office and drive yourself home. I don’t have to make any incisions or stitches. The mini implant is a smaller diameter implant, so it’s a lot less invasive.

I would place the implants, and then I would put these attachments inside either the new denture we made, or maybe we could use your existing denture. And now the denture will snap onto those implants. So the day I put the implants in, you will leave with the denture snapped onto those implants. So if you have a loose denture, please call me, do the free consultation. It’s no commitment, no charge, to see if you’re a candidate for this.

We’ll do the 3D x-ray, make sure you have enough bone, and then hopefully we can do the snap-in denture for you. The other option, say you just want to get rid of the denture completely, is we can do what we call a roundhouse bridge. This option is great because it’s made out of a much stronger material. It’s zirconia, and so it can be trimmed back to be much less bulky than a denture. I’m going to place the implants the same way, and then when we deliver this roundhouse bridge to you essentially, it’s permanent.

You’re never going to have to take it out. You brush it just like regular teeth, and then you’re going to come see me every 6 months, and I’ll clean it. Sometimes I take it out and check everything and clean it, but then you have nothing on the roof of your mouth. You get to taste all your food again. It’s a great option.

So if you’re struggling with a loose denture, and using all the glue, please come see me, because a lot of times I can use the mini dental implants to do either the snap-in denture or the roundhouse bridge to get rid of the denture completely. At the free consultation, we’ll go over what options I recommend for you and why I recommend those options. Obviously, we’ll go over cost. We’ll help you out with financing or payments. We’ll really try to help you out in any way we can.

So that you don’t have to deal with this loose denture, using glue, probably only putting it in when you have to. So please call me. I do it all the time. I’ve been doing the mini implants for almost 10 years solely. I’ve been a dentist for almost 20 years now, but I love helping people out with loose dentures.

It’s my specialty, so please call.
