Meet Dr Regan Ackerman

It helps to know the dentist who will be planning your care. In this video, Dr. Regan Ackerman introduces herself, explains how she became interested in dentistry, and shares what brought her practice to its current focus.

Hi, my name is Dr. Regan Ackerman with Freedom Dental Implants. I just wanted to take a little time to introduce myself and a little bit of background about me. I was born and raised in Kentucky. I grew up in Bowling Green, Kentucky. I love any and all sports, and that’s kind of what took me to the University of Florida for my undergrad.

I went on a soccer scholarship. I was a goalkeeper there, so I always like to say I’ve got good hands. I was a goalkeeper, which translates to good dentistry. But my dental journey kind of started there around my junior year, trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. And so I started shadowing at the dental school, and my brother was also in dental school here in Kentucky, and it was just life-changing.

I shadowed at the dental school, shadowed a dentist down there in Gainesville, and it just clicked. And I thought, "I love this." It’s helping people. It kind of combines, medicine with business, and I just really, really found that passion. So I applied to dental schools and then just realized I missed Kentucky.

I missed the southern hospitality of Kentucky, the people, the state of Kentucky. Obviously, my family and friends were here. So I graduated from the University of Kentucky Dental School. And then I was a general dentist for about 10 years, and then I discovered the mini dental implants. Now, the mini dental implants have been around for much, much longer, but it just took me a little bit, to discover them.

And then I focused my practice solely on mini dental implants about 10 years ago. So that’s all I’ve been doing for the past 10 years of my 20-year career of dentistry is the mini dental implants. My husband works with me. He’s my assistant, so you’ll get to meet him. He works with me chairside. He’s always the one that takes your x-ray at the free consultation.

We have 2 lovely children, a daughter who’s 15 right now and a son who’s 11. My passions are still sports though. I love playing tennis and golf. I’m currently active in coaching my daughter’s high school basketball team. So just really love sports.

I’ve never lost that competitive spirit, but I love doing dentistry and helping people. And I’m really glad, that we’re here in the state of Kentucky and helping people, although we do serve people all over. We see tons of patients from Indiana, and have had patients come to us from Tennessee. So just really love helping the community out with the mini dental implants. But that’s just a little bit about me, and I really appreciate you visiting us, and I hope to meet you in person at a free consultation one day.
