The short answer
Dr. Ackerman describes nearly 10 years focused on mini dental implants within an approximately 20-year dental career. She says she places roughly 1,000 or more implants annually and explains how that experience informs patient selection and treatment planning.
When choosing implant treatment, you may want to know how much experience your dentist has with the procedure. In this video, Dr. Regan Ackerman explains how she became interested in mini implants and how they became the focus of her practice.
So I’ve been doing the mini dental implants for almost 10 years now. I discovered them about 10 years ago. I was at an American Dental Association meeting and saw the CE course, and I thought, "I can help so many people with this process." Now, the mini dental implants have been around much, much longer than 10 years. But I specialized my practice 10 years ago solely to placing mini dental implants.
So that is all I do every day, all day. I place roughly about 1,000 or more each year, so I’m very experienced with the mini dental implants. I’ve been a general dentist for 20 years now, so I’ve been around, I’ve seen it all, but these past 10 years I have specialized my practice and my focus to the mini dental implants. So with that experience, I know when to use a mini dental implant, when not to use it, who’s a good candidate, who’s not. So I would recommend coming in for the free consultation.
I have the experience to know if you’re a good candidate, how we can use these mini dental implants, or even a one-piece implant. There are many different ways. And I love doing it. I mean, 10 years ago when I specialized and focused with this, it’s been life-changing for me that I get to change people’s lives every day using the mini dental implants, to stabilize dentures, get rid of dentures, replace missing teeth. It’s just a fun job.
