Does Dental Insurance Cover Full Mouth Reconstruction

The short answer

Dr. Ackerman explains that dental insurance generally will not pay the full cost of full-mouth reconstruction. A plan may contribute to parts of treatment, but annual limits and implant exclusions can leave a balance. Financing or staggered payments may help address that balance.

If you need extensive treatment, you may be hoping insurance will cover the full plan. In this video, Dr. Regan Ackerman explains the limits she commonly encounters and the payment options the office can discuss.

Does insurance cover full mouth reconstruction? So the quick answer is basically no. Full mouth reconstructions are usually going to max out what any insurance would cover. First of all, a lot of insurances don’t cover implant coverage. You may be able to use your insurance a little bit with the extractions, but honestly, most insurances only cover maybe $1,500.

And you can use that for your extractions or whatnot. But like I kind of mentioned before, a full mouth reconstruction can be anywhere, for denture stabilization, $6,000 to $8,000, or for the roundhouse bridge, $15,000 to $16,000. So insurance typically is not going to cover your whole full mouth reconstruction. We do work with third-party financing. A common name is CareCredit, but we work with multiple companies to try to get payment plans set up for you or we sometimes can do staggered payments within the office to help you out.

So don’t be discouraged just because your insurance won’t cover it. There are many ways we have helped people finance their full-mouth reconstruction.
