The short answer
Dr. Ackerman describes an implant denture as a removable denture that snaps onto implants. Attachments inside the denture connect to the implants to improve stability and reduce reliance on denture adhesive.
A denture that shifts can make everyday activities uncomfortable. In this video, Dr. Regan Ackerman explains what an implant denture is and how the attachments help hold it in place.
An implant denture, also known as a snap-in denture, is essentially a denture., that snaps on to implants. So essentially, you have the denture that comes in and out of your mouth, but in your mouth will be the implants, which is essentially a titanium screw. And I use the mini dental implants, a smaller diameter implant. So these implants, they’ll have an abutment that kind of sticks out of your gums, and then you’ll have your denture, and any implant denture is going to have attachments inside of it so that the two can connect. So that’s essentially what an implant denture is.
You have your implants, and then you have the attachments inside the denture now so the two can connect and snap in. So I like to call them snap-in dentures, and then it stabilizes your denture that way so that it won’t move and flop, and you don’t have to use any glue to keep it in. So that is essentially what an implant denture, or also known as a snap-in denture, is.

How the two parts connect
The implants remain in your mouth, while the denture can be removed. The attachments inside the denture connect those two parts. Dr. Ackerman uses the term “snap-in denture” to describe that connection and the stability it provides.
