Mini Implant Dentist in Louisville, KY

Dr. Ackerman is a Kentucky native, born in Bowling Green, Kentucky, only 2 hours south of Louisville, Kentucky. Dr. Ackerman received her training from the University of Florida and the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry. She has trained with Dr. Stroud; she has also trained with Dr. Shatkin, the dentist who patented mini dental implants. Dr. Ackerman is also a proud member of America’s Mini Dental Implant Centers, the American Dental Association, the Kentucky Dental Association, and the Louisville Dental Society. Dr. Ackerman has had extensive training in the placement and use of mini dental implants. Her goal is to help residents of her community achieve the smile of their dreams with the affordable and less invasive option of mini dental implants.

Mini Dental Implants Versus Traditional Implants

Many patients wonder why they should choose mini dental implants over traditional implants. Mini dental implants are more affordable and less invasive than traditional dental implants. Additionally, they are an excellent solution for patients with minimal jawbone structure.

More Affordable. Mini dental implants use less hardware than traditional dental implants. There are three parts to a conventional dental implant: the titanium post, the abutment, and the attachment. There are only two parts to a mini dental implant: the titanium post and the appliance, such as a denture or dental crown. With less hardware, the cost of a mini dental implant including the crown is the same as the price of a traditional dental implant without a crown.

Less Invasive. Mini dental implants are a less invasive procedure than traditional dental implants. With mini dental implants, there is no need for incisions or stitches. Dr. Ackerman can place the mini dental implant in minutes with a minimal anesthetic. With traditional dental implants, the dentist often has to use a bone graft to increase the amount of bone density in the jawbone to place the implant. Mini dental implants can be placed even with very narrow or thin bone, meaning there is no need for a bone graft.

No Waiting Period. For single teeth, with traditional dental implants, the implant post is placed, and then in six to twelve months, the abutment and the dental crown are placed. With mini dental implants, the entire implant is placed in one day and the healing time is just about a month. During this time you will wear a temporary, but in just a few weeks you will be able to smile confidently with your new tooth or teeth. Many patients prefer this because they can transform the appearance of their smile in significantly less.

What is the Recovery Time for a Mini Dental Implant Procedure?

The recovery time following a mini dental implant is quicker than a traditional dental implant. During the mini dental implant procedure, Dr. Ackerman uses a small amount of anesthetic. You may have slight discomfort for 24 to 48 hours following the process. Patients can return to normal activities the next day.

Mini dental implants are a fantastic way to transform the appearance of your smile. Dr. Ackerman is an experienced dentist in placing mini dental implants and has trained with some of the best oral surgeons in the field.
